Don't know how I didn't know about this sooner, but Russian writer Boris Akunin's book "The Winter Queen" is going to be made into an English language film. I read some of his books about four years ago and loved them at the time, but I've not seen any  adaptations of them so far as they don't seem to be widely available outside Russia.

Now I really can't wait to see how they go about turning it into a movie. And the best part - Anton Yelchin has been cast as Erast Fandorin. I cannot imagine anyone more perfect for the role. Fandorin is a young, smart, mild-mannered but secretly badass Russian detective - from what I've seen of Yelchin he can most definitely pull that off.

So now I have two awesome detectives to look forward to seeing more of in 2012 - BBC Sherlock is coming back and Erast Fandorin is going to be on the big screen. I can't wait!
